A supermoon is a rare event. Moon has always been a part of many poets’ artistic and literary expressions. Movies have depicted moon as a connecting aspect of romantic gestures between lovers. Moon is connotated with numerous mythic tales and stories. However, Moon is still watched with great curiosity and admiration. The spots on the moon are still been intriguingly observed upon. Every year, two eclipses occur that snatch away the opportunity of the full moon to revel in its rare wholeness.

On 31st January 2018, the moon will not be black and blue but red and orange. The moon will not just be observed by melancholic and contemplative minds but all of the residents of the earth. It will be the moment of rejoicing for the astronomy researchers and geeks.

The supermoon will be eclipsed on this full moon day. On 2nd January, the larger-appearing moon, called supermoon attracted the enthusiasts. There is more to come. The same supermoon will be eclipsed while showing a wonderful tinge of colors. This rare celestial event will definitely overwhelm many. This will be the first total lunar eclipse of the year. The next total lunar eclipse will be observed in December 2033 (according to NASA). Hence, it is not to be missed! It is also known as Blood Moon owing to the red shades.

The last total lunar eclipse occurred in 2009 while the last Blue Moon happened very far in the year of 1866. This is a rare Stellarium event because it is happening after the span of 150 years.

Supermoon Visibility In The Locations

The blood moon will be seen in Eastern Europe, Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Australia, Canada and nearly majority of the part of the world. However, the area from the Indian subcontinent to the European territory will be fortunate to observe for very fewer moments. Pacific Ocean, Central Asia, and Australia will be able to have a perfect viewing of the eclipse.

The phase shall sustain for a total of 77 minutes. It will move through the southern part of earth’s shadow. As far as the appearance of the moon is concerned, the lower part of the moon will be brighter than the upper part.

What is SuperMoon Lunar Eclipse?

A Supermoon is defined as the one that apparently appears 14 percent larger than the general one. This happens because the moon is nearer to the fall equinox.

A lunar eclipse is termed as the phenomenon when the moon, earth, and sun come in the one line and in the same order. Due to this alignment, the Earthians cannot see the full bright white moon. Instead, they will see a dark circle bordered by a light that appears like a ring with a jewel.

Supermoon Lunar eclipse is a rare celestial event. The merging of two phenomena happens after many years. If you miss then you have to wait until 2033.
