Dhoba caste mainly dwells in Central India and they are mainly cultivators. They have very aboriginal customs and beliefs. For community like Gond, Dhobha acts like priest. As they are the small caste belonging the Central India, they are offshoot of main tribes. Dhobha caste are named after many other sects whereby they take their names from names of certain villages. Dhoba Matrimony are not performed between Sonwani and Sonsonwani, in Maratha and Khatnagar and Maralwati sects and many other such internal sects exists where Dhobha matrimonies cannot be performed. Dhoba Matrimony can be performed between children of brother and sister but not children of two sisters. As per Dhoba Matrimony the bridegroom goes to the village of bride and the customs and rituals are performed according to the Hindus culture. Dhoba community also allow divorce and remarriage of widow. There are many several rites and rituals which Dhoba community follow. As in Hindu marriages, the marriages are performed with great pomp, Dhobha community according to their worth spend in weddings and perform all Hindu traditions. The bride is suppose to wear sindoor once she is married and has to leave her parents house thereafter and have to live with her husband for her whole life then onwards.
