Today, smartphone developers are trying to enhance mobile devices. And they want to add everything to a smartphone. The biosensor is a new research and a technology that is going to merge with the smartphone.

We can see a rapid improvement in the world of smartphones’ software and hardware. We can also see improvement in Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS).

Device developers and manufacturers have a powerful integrated health monitoring solution that provides information on heart status and physical activity in approximately just 60 seconds.

In the year of 2018, users will be able to use biosensor in the smartphones. There will a 6-in-1 biosensor module for smartphones. In sixty seconds, you can take several records including rhythm, rate, and electrical activity of the heart. In addition, you can also assess blood pressure, peripheral oxygen saturation levels, and changes in blood volume. Everything can be operated from the cell phone itself.

It is a software solution and module that integrates optical and electrical processing components.

How Does Biosensor Will Work?

Biosensor module uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) together with a light-sensitive sensor. It will measure the absorption of infrared and red light by the user’s fingertips.

It is a powerful advanced health monitoring solution. This technology facilitates the tracking of heart rate information, blood pressure trends, peripheral oxygen saturation levels, and more.

By touching the sensors and electrodes of a device with the tips of your fingers, Biosensor creates a closed circuit between your heart and the biosensor to measure the ECG and PPG waveforms.

The researcher emphasizes that it is an easy-to-integrate customization solution since cell phone manufacturers can integrate this module directly into any smartphone, instead of using multiple sensors. In turn, companies can develop proprietary applications or take advantage of third-party applications and add-ons for the developer.

These are the six indexes offered by the biosensor:

  1. Heart rate: Heartbeats measures per minute.
  2. Heart rate variability: The variation in time between heartbeats measures.
  3. Blood pressure trends: Assesses blood pressure trends over a period of time.
  4. Peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2): The amount of oxygen in the blood measures.
  5. Electrocardiography (ECG): The electrical activity of the heart is evaluated over a period of time.
  6. Photoplethysmography (PPG): This will measure the change in blood volume.

When Will This Be Launched?

The new Sensor will hit the market in the mid of 2018. It will be launched along with a software package. It is designed by MediaTek that will offer the reading of all the integrated sensors.

“Providing people with the power to access their health information with a smartphone is an important step in making the world a healthier place,” said Dr. Yenchi Lee, Senior Director of Product Marketing for the business. He added, “With our MediaTek Sensio biosensor software and module, device developers and manufacturers have a powerful integrated health monitoring solution that provides information about heart status and physical activity in approximately in just 60 seconds.”

At the conclusion, Biosensor is on the edge of changing the way we use our smartphones.
