We watch almost all types of movies. The movies are broadly categorised as romantic, horror, action, anime, sci-fi and action. There is yet one more category that we often ignore – the weird movies. There is a long list of movies that can be categorized as the weirdest of the weird. I have compiled a short and comprehensive list of such movies below.

The weird movies of all the times:

1. In My Skin:

   In my skin is one of the horror cum weird movies. Image courtesy YouTubeThe movie ‘In My Skin’ is a story of a young woman called Esther. Esther has a nice life and caring boyfriend. She loves to party. One day she attends a party and gets seriously injured. Irrespective of the intensity of pain Esther goes on to drinking with her friends and ignores the need to seek a medical help for the injury. Due to some reasons, Esther gets into a mental issue under which she is picking up on her injuries and hurting herself in various parts of the body. The worst part is yet to arrive. Esther starts preserving each flesh from her body that she takes off while she rips her skin brutally.  All this she does for the sake of fun.

2. Black Moon:

The movie depicts the fear of young female when they enter adolescence. The movie is woven around the themes of gender oppression and the surreal fears. Although it has a different theme, it failed to touch hearts of the audience as well as film critiques.

   The direction, plot, theme, and dialogues have helped the movie revive praise for being baffling as well as funny. It is one weird movie that leaves its audience with dis-collected dreams or a series of dreams that no one remembers after waking up. It has certain uncomfortable scenes that are enough to call the Black Moon a weird movie.

3. The Holy Mountain:

   Holy mountain – weird movies. Image courtesy IMDbReleased in 1973 the Holy Mountain movie is a vintage classic. The movie has received praise for psychedelic visuals as well as for art direction. The story of the movie is based on the astrological signs and tarot cards. The movie reveals the spiritual journey of an alchemist.

4. Rubber:

   Rubber- weird movies. Image courtesy YouTubeYou might have heard of people killing people, car accidents, and hunting. But, have you heard of a tire killing others with its psychic abilities? If not, watch the movie Rubber which revolves around the story of a tire.

5. Videodrome:

   Videodrome- weird movies of all the times. Image courtesy The DissolveThe movie has techno-surrealist elements such as mind control, violent hallucinations and a broadcast signal depicting extreme disturbing violence. In short, the Videodrome is a 1983 Canadian sci-fi movie film by David Cronenberg. Cronenberg has given many hits and flops and has contributed significantly to ‘body horror’ genre.

6. Gummo:

In fact, the movie is about the life of people living in Xenio following the destructive tornado attack. It is boring and doesn’t carry any interesting part to keep the viewer glued to the screen.    Eraserhead:

   Gummo- Weird Movies of all the times. Image courtesy Little White LiesA 1977 movie, Eraserhead is an American surrealist body horror film. The movie is a story about a man in a space and floating head that is caught by a sperm monster. This appears right at the beginning of the movie. Well, I am not sure if the movie watched in 1977 sounded weird or not. But, when compared with the movies of today’s time the Eraserhead movie is certainly the weirdest of the weird movies.
