The Bhavasar is a community in India whose main occupation is related with textiles. Either they create woodblock printing on textiles or focus on tailoring. They are found in states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and some parts of Madhya Pradesh too. They are known in different names in different states. In Gujarat and Rajasthan, they are known as Bhavasar while in Maharashtra they divide themselves into various sub-communities like BhavsarKshathriya or Bhavsar Shimpi. Bhavasar people are generally found in two subs-castes that areRangrezs and Shimpis. While Rangrezs are traditionally involved with woodblock printing on textiles and Shimpis are traditionally associated with tailoring. They are considered as a distinct group and they follow a distinct culture of their own. Bhavasar community is too religious and they follow every ritualaccording to their tradition. They worship Hinglaj Mata who is believed to be their original deity. The oldest temple of this deity is found in present day Pakistan and this temple is regarded as a center of Hindu pilgrimage. The wedding among Bhavsar community has many important rituals. The wedding ceremony follows all the Hindu rituals. Generally the community believes in the system of arranged marriages which is a major concern of parents. The elder members of the family also play a vital role in accomplishing the marriageceremony. Love marriages and inter-caste marriages have entered the new generation of this community. The adornment of the Bhavasar Khsatriya brides and grooms are made according to the region where they reside. Their marriage ceremony has received a great deal of regional influences.
