Ezhavas, also known as Ilhavas or Iravas or Izhavas or Eravas or Chovas or Chokons or Chogons or Thiyyas or Tiyyas or theeyas are living in the southern state of Kerala from India. They are a specific sub religion who specialize in doing agricultural work. They also do other works, but this is the majority and they take huge pride in supporting this world with food. They feel this is the greatest work and hence they do it with full satisfaction and dedication. It is believed that these people came from Ceylon, current Sri Lanka. Chera king of Kerala once asked the king of Sri Lanka to send few people for an important work. Some say he asked them to come to set up a coconut farm. Some say they came to win a local war. Whatever be the reason, it is believed that those people came here and slowly the Ezhava tradition is established in Kerala. After that everyone got settled here, thanks to the wonderful climate that this state enjoys throughout the year. There are specific set of religious practices which are followed by Ezhava men and women. There is a difference in terms of how well each family follows this. But it is generally understood that the culture is special and it has to be protected by the respective people. Ezhava matrimony typically happens via the dedicated websites created for this purpose. It is possible to search for suitable match for men and women easily and after that the marriage arrangements take place.
