Mannuru Kapu is a community found in southern part of India. The Kapus are basically a military community who later on adopted agriculture as their occupation. So it is most often found as an agrarian community who fought for the state during war and shifted to agriculture during peace time. Now by occupation they are found to be farmers. The Mannuru Kapu community always associated with protecting the kingdom. Their rituals are quite similar to the rituals performed by the Kshatriyas. Mostly their matrimonial rituals are similar to that of the Kshatriyas. As they basically belong to Andhra Pradesh, some of their culture is influenced by Telugu customs. The Mannuru Kapu Brides are found to be beautified in the manner the Telugu brides are dressed. And all the other customs belong to the Kshatriyas of other states. In different states of India also this community is found. In Maharashtra also, this community is found in great number. In the state of Karnataka also this population is found. In every state, there one will find a little variation in their matrimonial rituals. The influence of the state's culture is found in the rituals of this community. The mannuru kapu matrimonial traditions involve much pomp and joy. The bride and grooms greatly celebrate the occasion and the marriages are generally guided by the elders. The marriage is a few days affair where every kinsman is invited and a lavish dinner is served to the bridegroom's people coming to the bride's house. The bridegroom is found to come with his military attire which exhibits his profession.
