Maharashtrian wedding is among the simplest wedding eremony among whole country. Unline other wedding ceremonies in other cultures most of the ritual in Maharashtrian weddings are performed in early morning. The Maharashtrian wedding starts with finding the perfect match for boy and girl by matching the horoscope and finding the suitable counterpart. Finding the suitable match for boy and girl is known as Lagnaach Bedi where the patrikias also known as horoscope of boy and girl is matched. The purohits find out the auspicious day which is called mahurat of marriage. Then Baithak, a meeting between the elders of two families happens where the close relatives, elders and parents discuss on the various matters regarding the wedding ceremony. This ritual is followed by preparations of wedding rituals to be performed alongside. Wang Nischay /Kelvan: This is a formal engagement ceremony where Maratha grooms and brides perform pooja of deities and all relatives of bride and grooms are invited for this ceremony followed by feast. Simant Puja: Simant means limits. According to this ritual, the groom and marriage baraati are welcomes at the outer limits of the village and the bride's mother washes the grooms' feet, appies tilak and turmeric stained rice (akshat), performs aarti and offer honey and curd as a token of sweetness. The grrom's family is also offered with madhupak (honey and curd). The Maratha grooms are gifted with treasures including clothes, jewelery, watch etc. Also, the mother and female relatives offers five sarees, jewelry to bride.
