Rajaka community belongs to the state of West Bengal. The people of this community are considered as backward castes. In other parts of India also this community is found. In places like Andhra Pradesh and Haryana, they are basically found. Their major occupation was to wash clothes of kings. The clothes are considered to be auspicious when it is washed by this community. In Andhra Pradesh, their major occupation is agriculture and laundry. Now they are found in government as well as private sector jobs. They are Hindus. In Tamilnadu, there are Muslim Rajaks too. But most parts of India, they follow Hinduism. All the events of their life are influenced by Hinduism. And mostly it is influenced by the region they live. Their marriage is also influenced by the state's culture, to which they belong. Their marriage between same clans and cousins are forbidden. They do not prefer dowry and it is considered as something ill-cultured. They allow widowre-marriage. They follow all the rituals of Hinduism in most states of India. Their widow marriage is quite wonderful. There the Rajaka grooms covered in black blanket comes to the bride's house in a dark night and takes the bride to his home. The marriages are followed by all Hindu tradition and culture. The bride and groom marry according to the Vedic rituals where the bride goes with the groom. The elders of the family play a major role in accomplishing the marriage. With the blessings of the elders and parents, the Rajak matrimony gets completed.
