Dhimans, also known as Viswabrahmins are a subcategory of Hindus. They are traditionally known as people who are craftsmen. They do five unique kinds of jobs which are very important well respected in the society. For example, they work as carpenters who use wood to make various things for home constructions and other activities. They work as blacksmiths making useful things from various metals. They were also bell metalworkers making special goods from it. They worked with gold also, making fine jewelry and they were masons building excellent houses for general public and big rulers of the state. Today, Dhimans engage in similar activities as they are still very important and well respected, along with various other jobs they choose. They also got into running their own businesses as these can be run by people on their own. In everything they do, Dhimans show discipline and hard work. So, others liked to engage them in doing anything which is important and useful like the list given above. This gave them a good social status which continues for generations even today. Dhimans see themselves as artists who can produce unique things to this world, when compared to other workers who only follow what others have already done. Dhiman matrimony happens within their group, by preparing a profile of the boy or the girl for whom a match is required. This profile is then distributed to number of people through personal and general channels. It may be done through a website also where profile of a boy or a girl can be uploaded or searched for. Once a suitable match is identified between a boy and a girl by their families, they meet, discuss and finalize on the marriage.
