CKPs (Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhus) are a subcategory of Hindus who originally lived in North Indian states. Today they are living in specific states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. They are also present in various other Indian states in small numbers. CKPs are part of the Kayastha community with some distinct differences in terms of their cultural habits. They were well read people who studied Vedas and participated in many important activities. Many of the CKPs speak Marathi. Few of them may speak other languages, as they got settled in other states which may not be good in Marathi language. They engage in all kinds of jobs and businesses, in everything they do, they bring their intelligence and try to think how to solve this problem in a different manner with the available resources. This helps them achieve the position of leaders naturally in whichever community they are living. While Maratha Empire was being setup, CKPs performed an important role in that. They also helped Maratha kings administer their kingdom effectively by supporting them on various aspects. This has given them a great social status which continues even today. They read intelligently and apply their brains to solve potential problems. CKPs matrimony process involves parents getting ready with the profiles of their sons and daughters, with all required details. This is shared with others with the idea of bringing suitable matches. When another family looking for a match like this sees it, they arrange for a meeting and arrive at a match. They then take a decision on how to go about with the marriage plans.
